“FRESH: New Work by Young Native American Artists,’’ in the Acoma Room at Inn at Loretto in downtown Santa Fe. Opening reception Thursday, August 16, 5-8 p.m. Also Friday, Aug. 17 and Saturday, August 18, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. (Alexandra Eldridge exhibit remains hung at the gallery during this show.) Included in this exhibit will be the body piercing-inspired stainless steel jewelry of Pat Pruitt (Laguna Pueblo/Chiricahua Apache/Anglo); jewelry by brothers David and Wayne Gaussoin (Picuris Pueblo/Navajo/French); paintings by Ryan Huna Smith (Chemehuevi/Navajo), Ryan Singer (Navajo), and Rose Simpson (Santa Clara Pueblo); glass art by Robert “Spooner” Marcus (Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo) and Ira Lujan (Taos Pueblo); and weavings by Melissa Cody (Navajo). We are also proud to introduce the work of two talented teenage jewelers—Kamella Bird-Romero (San Juan/Taos Pueblo) and Waddie Crazyhorse (Cochiti Pueblo).

I am sorry that I must miss this exhibition of Native Americans. Hope to come to Victoria Price's Gallery in 2008 and view the work of these artists.
